Corn export inspections stay ahead of expected pace

The USDA says that as of the week ending October 18th, corn export inspections remain well ahead of the USDA’s anticipated pace for the 2018/19 marketing year.

Wheat came out at 385,047 tons, down 73,423 from the week ending October 11th, but up 212,432 from the week ending October 19th, 2017. For the 2018/19 marketing year to date, wheat inspections are 8,208,838 tons, compared to 9,843,872 tons in 2017/18.

Corn was reported at 949,168 tons, 62,187 lower than the previous week, but 313,139 higher than a year ago. So far, this marketing year, corn inspections are 7,823,167 tons, compared to 4,548,339 this time last year.

Soybeans were pegged at 1,148,566 tons, 61,304 less than the week before and 1,444,814 below last year. About a month and a half into the marketing year, soybean inspections are 5,936,483 tons, compared to 9,843,872 a year ago.

Sorghum totaled 9,407 tons, a decrease of 41,450 on the week and 64,881 on the year. 2018/19 sorghum inspections are 131,748 tons, compared to 444,601 in 2017/18.
