Dayjure Stewart climbs atop York High's rushing list, leads comeback at Northeastern
Dayjure Stewart exited last week's game with a rib injury.
Would the senior running back play York High's Week 9 battle against YAIAA Division I foe Northeastern? Would be be effective?
Umm, yes. And heck yes.
Stewart rushed 29 times for 391 yards, becoming the Bearcats' all-time leading rusher, and his three second-half touchdowns (covering 77, 88 and 7 yards) rallied the visitors to a 32-28 victory over the host Bobcats.
Now with 3,057 yards on 301 carries, he passed 2018 grad Khalid Dorsey (2,929 yards) for the top spot on York's all-time career rushing list. Joe Montouth (Class of 1983) is third at 2,850 yards.

York High improved to 8-1 overall, 5-1 in the division, heading into Week 10's regular-season finale against Central York. Northeastern fell to 4-5 overall, 3-3 in the division.
