Lincoln County property tax bills will generate $31.87 million in taxes

The treasurer also presented a demographics chart based on primary residences of property owners

Lincoln County Treasurer Beverly Calaway and her staff mailed out property tax bills for 30,568 parcels Monday.

The mailing represents $31,878,929.34 in property taxes.

Calaway reminded property owners if they do not receive their 2018 tax bills in the mail by Nov. 1, to contact the treasurer's office at 575-648-2397 ext. 7, to check on the status of their tax bill.

A breakdown on what entities receive the tax revenues showed that the state will see $1,764,705; the county, $11,758,013; municipalities, $4,121,778; schools, $9 million; livestock and predator control, $95,676; ENMU-Ruidoso, $1.3 million; hospital and clinics, $3,365,355; and soil and water sanitation districts, $471,840.

Breakdown of tax revenue destinations

Calaway also handed out a demographic chart showing the primary residence location of owners of property in Lincoln County.

No surprise, 463 are based in Arizona, 609 in California, 179 in Oklahoma, 9,326 in Texas,  213 in Colorado and 215 in Florida, besides smaller amounts in nearly every other state in the nation, as well as the United Kingdom. But the biggest number came from New Mexico with 17,561 owners.

New Mexico owners broke down into 223 from Alamogordo, 644 from Albuquerque, 1,858 from Alto, 1,637 from Capitan, 1,035 from Carrizozo, 620 from Las Cruces, 474 from Nogal, 1,519 from Ruidoso Downs, 5,274 from Ruidoso, 202 from Hondo, 263 from San Patricio, 105 from Tinnie and 109 from Lincoln.
