YAIAA doubles team advances in District 3 girls' tennis tournament

Seven girls' tennis doubles teams entered the District 3 tournament Friday in Hershey.

Only one team remains in the running for a district title heading into Saturday's semifinals at the Hershey Racquet Club.

Dallastown's Meghan Salaga and Morgan Kistler, who won the YAIAA title less than two weeks ago, won two matches Friday to reach the semifinals.

Salaga/Kistler defeated Olivia Richards/Sydney Payne of Governor Mifflin 6-3, 6-0 in the first round and Hempfield's Grace Lehman/Tierney Cantwell 2-6, 7-6(3), 6-4 in the second round of the Class 3A tournament.

Next up is top-seeded Emily Garvin/Avery Palandjian of Manheim Twp. in a semifinal at 1 p.m. The winner advances to the final and the loser will play in the consolation match for the last PIAA berth.

South Western's Michaela Senta and Karen Yang lost to Central Dauphin's Alexa Schwab and Skyler Oken 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 in the first round. York Suburban's Alex Clancy/Liv Pindzola were eliminated by third-seeded Meg Ulrich/Olivia Gorak-Lacquement of Carlisle 6-3, 6-2 in the first round.

New Oxford's Kamdyn Balko/Kasi Conjack lost to second-seeded Scotland Reynolds/Nicole Honrade of Manheim Twp. 6-0, 6-0 in the first round.

In the Class 2A tournament, Kennard-Dale's Brianna Miller and Megan Hawkins defeated Sadie Rieg/Maya Arora of Trinity 6-2, 6-1 in the first round before falling to Wyomissing's Vittoria D'Addessi/Jasmine Wang 6-2, 6-0 in the second round. That Wyomissing team, seeded second, topped West York's Audrey Kinney/Alisa Steele 6-0, 6-1 in the first round.

Delone Catholic's Peyton Golowski and Becca Dolce fell to Lancaster Catholic's Meg Grassberger/Angelle San Jose 6-0, 6-2 in the first round.
