Lincoln County manager's contract renewed

Nita Taylor beginning her eighth year as county manager

The annual contract of Lincoln County Manager Nita Taylor was renewed last week by the Lincoln County Commission with a 2 percent raise.

The increase brings her annual salary to $102,433.50.

Lincoln County Manager Nita Taylor received a 2 percent increase in salary.

The motion to approve by Chairman Preston Stone, seconded by Vice Chairman Dallas Draper passed 4-1, with Commissioner Elaine Allen voting nay without explanation. Reached Friday, she said she generally does not vote for raises and that was the reason for her negative vote.

Taylor’s current contract expires Nov. 6 and the renewal is for one year.

County Attorney Alan Morel noted that Taylor is ending her seventh year as county manager.

“You know who she is and what she does,” he said. He presented options for salary increases of 3 percent and 5 percent.

“I know it has been a couple of years since she has received an increase,” he said. “If it helps, when my contract comes up in a couple of month I hope to be renewed, I will not be asking for an increase.”

Taylor thanked commissioners for the renewal, saying she loved the job.

“I love the job, I love the challenge of the work,” she said. “I realize how much we have done in the last few years and how much there is left to do. Thanks for allowing me to be part of the team.”
