‘Watts for Dinner’: Jimmy P’s has the crafty burgers
You see the word craft a lot these days, attached to, among other things, beers and burgers. If you’re looking for a fine craft burger in Naples, you’re in luck – there are several, including this week’s dining destination, Jimmy P’s Charred.
All burgers are served on a heavenly soft brioche bun, with a side of lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle. You can request mayonnaise or mustard.
All burgers come with fries, as Mother Nature intended. I asked for the shoestring fries; my partner in dine went with the truffle fries. Here’s where being new to the venue led me astray. I assumed the shoestring fries would be a completely different animal from the truffle fries. In reality, it is not. While the shoestring fries were incredible, especially served with the house spiced ketchup; the truffle fries are out of this world and addictive. You can add extra truffle, but to be honest, it’s not necessary.
We both selected burgers made with the eight-ounce ground Wagyu patty ($20). Wagyu refers to cattle bred in Japan. Wagyu is more expensive than some other beef because the cattle are genetically predisposed to have high levels of unsaturated fats.
I selected the bacon and cheddar burger; my companion had the mushroom and swiss.
The patties were cooked to perfection and the veggies were fresh and delicious. While Wagyu is known for a certain-style of marbling; once cooked it’s hard to confirm. The texture was amazing but if you are looking for an other-worldly taste, I did not find it. Just a good solid craft burger.
If you are hooked, good news. Jimmy P’s Deli is right next door and you can take some home to cook for yourself.
