USB directors approach role with peers in mind
Two United Soybean Board directors appointed for another term by USDA approach the role with peers in mind.
North central Iowa farmer April Hemmes tells Brownfield Soy Checkoff investments are used for education and promotion.
“So overseeing those dollars is a very important thing, and I take it very seriously because I treat every dollar as if it was my dollar and I was spending it on the farm.”
Joining Hemmes for another 3-year term is southern Minnesota farmer Rochelle Krusemark.
She says USB is focused on maximizing profits.
“Not only on our farm, but for everybody. So that looks very different, depending on if you’re thinking of marketplace, or demand, or supply.”
The United Soybean Board consists of more than 70 volunteer farmer-directors who oversee soy checkoff investments.
U.S. Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue has also appointed these members from Brownfield states:
Illinois: Lynn Rohrscheib of Fairmount
Indiana: Mark Seib of Poseyville
Missouri: Patrick Hobbs of Dudley
Nebraska: Tony Johanson of Oakland
Ohio: Jeff Magyar of Orwell
South Dakota: David Iverson of Astoria
