An analyst describes recent harvest weather as neutral to friendly for commodity prices.

Mark Schultz with Northstar Commodity says cool and wet conditions have slowed fieldwork across the Corn Belt.

“Most of this data is collected on the first of October.  I would think we’ll see not significant but some field loss taking place.”

And with harvest grinding to a halt, he tells Brownfield farmer selling has fallen off.

“That’s what has improved (prices) for the time being.”

Schultz does point out the forecast for much of the Midwest has improved, which should pressure corn and soybean prices.
