Indiana corn farmers pleased with E15 announcement

The president of Indiana Corn Marketing Council says President Trump’s directive to allow year-round sales of E15 will benefit both consumers and farmers.

Mike Beard grows corn and soybeans in Clinton County.

“That will give the consumer an opportunity to save a little money and save the environment and it will give corn farmers the opportunity to market more grain as ethanol,” he says.

He tells Brownfield Indiana Corn Marketing Council has been active in promoting ethanol.

“We have been part of programs that subsidize putting  ethanol pumps into fuel stations and over the last few years been pretty successful in proving the demand for ethanol as a fuel,” he says.

Beard says he is confident that the president will get an E15 waiver in place even though oil and environmental groups have said they will fight it.
