Green Bay Packers grade card: Position evaluation vs. 49ers

Here's a position-by-position analysis of how the Green Bay Packers graded out during their 33-20 win Monday night over the San Francisco 49ers:

Quarterbacks: Aaron Rodgers (100.4 rating) won the game with two clutch drives in the final three minutes. Early he also missed some throws and wasn’t always in sync with his receivers. Grade: B+

Running back: Aaron Jones (41 yards, eight carries) had decent production but dropped a pass, which didn’t help his case to stay on the field more on passing downs. Ty Montgomery had a great read and outside cut on his big 14-yard run to start the game-winning drive in the final 1:07. Grade: B-

Wide receivers: Davante Adams (10 catches, 132 yards) had an outstanding game and was unstoppable with the outcome on the line. Marquez Valdes-Scantling (three catches for 103 yards) made some plays but also blew at least one third down when he ran a poor out route. Equanimeous St. Brown made a nice catch on a back-shoulder throw late to set up the game-winning field goal. Grade: B

Tight end: Jimmy Graham (five catches, 104 yards) had his best game of the season, including a 54-yard reception. Lance Kendricks (two for 37 yards) caught the ball. Grade: B

Offensive line: Left guard Lane Taylor gave up a sack and isn’t playing as well as last year. Right guard Byron Bell is struggling in pass protection, too. Lucas Patrick played ahead of Justin McCray (shoulder) when Bell moved to right guard, even though McCray was active. Grade: C+

Defensive line: Kenny Clark had a sack and, despite the 49ers’ impressive rushing numbers, played the run well, too. Dean Lowry is a hustler, and there’s really been no drop-off since Muhammad Wilkerson’s season-ending injury. Grade: B.

Inside linebackers: Blake Martinez and Oren Burks didn’t play off blocks and weren’t aggressive enough taking on ball carriers. Antonio Morrison played only three snaps. Grade: D

Outside linebackers: Nick Perry knocked down three passes at the line of scrimmage, and Clay Matthews had a key sack late in the fourth quarter. But this group – Reggie Gilbert and Kyler Fackrell included – didn’t hold the edge well against the run. Grade: B

Cornerbacks: A gritty performance. Kevin King had an excellent interception staying in tight coverage and then locating the deep ball. He also recovered a fumble. Tramon Williams gave up a 39-yard touchdown, but credit receiver Marquise Goodwin for running an exquisite, ankle-breaking route. Grade: B-

Safeties: Kentrell Brice gave up his third long TD of the season, this time a 67-yarder to the speedster Goodwin. Ha Ha Clinton-Dix didn’t get anything done on a couple blitzes, then got home late, inducing C.J. Beathard to underthrow Goodwin on the deep ball that King intercepted. Grade: C-

Special teams: Mason Crosby made all seven of his kicks (four field goals, three extra points), including the game-winning 27-yard field goal as time expired. Punter JK Scott (33.8-yard net, 38.3-yard gross, one touchback) had a mediocre night. Grade: A-
