USDA gives notice of intent on an ASF vaccine

The USDA has given a notice of intent to license a preventative vaccine for African Swine Fever. USDA stated its intent to grant Zoetis an exclusive license on two patents.  If and when granted, it would pave the way for Zoetis to develop a vaccine to help control African Swine Fever. African Swine Fever was recognized as a significant transboundary threat years ago.

The notice has been published in the Federal Register. The public comment period is in effect through November 14th. There is currently no vaccine for African Swine Fever.
