Corn, fruit getting some disease pressure in Wisconsin

University of Wisconsin Extension officials are continuing to get reports of plant disease problems.  Friday’s report says there were confirmed cases of three different types of corn ear rot during the week.  Diplodia was found in Grant County.  Gibberella was reported in Fond du Lac County, and Trichoderma was found in both Grant and Fond du Lac Counties.

Tar Spot, which has been a problem in much of southern Wisconsin, was found in a new location in Sheboygan County last week.

Extension specialists also investigated cases of Sooty Mold on apples in Sawyer County and Root Rot and Crown Rot on raspberries in Lafayette County.  Several counties also reported disease pressure on trees and ornamental bushes.
