Dairy checkoff says get online for #NationalFarmersDay

The dairy checkoff says 70 percent of consumers want to meet a farmer which is why they’re encouraging dairy farmers to participate in National Farmers Day.

Serena Schaffner with Dairy Management tells Brownfield for the past two years they’ve embraced National Farmers Day on October 12 to connect with consumers.  “We’re encouraging everyone to rally around National Farmers Day online and post a picture, share their dairy story, use #NationalFarmersDay.”

Schaffner says their survey also found seven out of 10 Americans think it’s important to know the farmers who produce their food and more than half of people were interested in moving to a farm.

She says more than 20 dairy farmers will be in New York for National Farmers Day attending food festivals to talk with consumers and partake in the event.
