Ameliorate Softening Bath Milk Oil

This is such a great brand – if you suffer from dry skin or KP you’ll know it can be hard to get rid of, particularly KP (those little dry skin bumps that appear commonly on upper arms and thighs). I’ve used the Ameliorate Smoothing Body Exfoliator on and off since I first came across it and it’s really very helpful thanks to lactic acid in the ingredient line up that dissolves away dead skin cells. That, and Mio’s Double Buff, are the most effective body exfoliating products for bumpy skin that I’ve ever used.

Ameliorate Softening Bath Milk Oil

Bizarrely, on the very day that I looked out some Ameliorate Body Exfoliator from my cupboard for Lucy who also has skin bumps, this new Bath Milk Oil appeared in the post. How timely. So, it’s an interesting texture for a start – a milk-oil. Basically, it looks like double cream and turns the water milky as it disperses when you pour it under the tap. It seems to have a good skin retention rate (i.e. stays on the skin rather than disappearing down the plug hole) so your skin feels silky and softened after your bath and thanks to colloidal oatmeal, it feels skin soothing too.

This is an easy win for me – I love a bath  (I’m usually steeping in Aromatherapy Associates) but it’s not going to deliver the same results as the exfoliator on KP and nor will your skin feel oily. It’s much more of a softening treatment. You can use an exfoliating mitt in the bath if you can be bothered and that will up its efficacy but I see this as part of a treatment, not the treatment per se. It’s £19 at Victoria Health (HERE) but it’s worth checking out Escentual.com HERE as they have a third off the entire range except this new product which I’m assuming VH has the exclusive on for a while.

Also, I think the carton style packaging is for press/blog send outs.
