Editor's Note: Corrects Hiestand result in U.S. Senior Women's Amateur.

The deadline to enter former LPGA Tour star Annika Sorenstam's "Share My Passion" presented by the LPGA*USGA Girls Golf and the ANNIKA Foundation is Friday.

The evnet is coming to Tiburón Golf Club at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort on Sunday, Nov. 11.

To enter, go to annikafoundation.org/share-my-passion-clinic.

Girls ages from 8-13 who reside in the United States are invited to write an open letter -- a maximum of 300 words -- about their love of golf and why other girls should learn to play. This will be the third year for the event, which is a letter contest with a clinic. IBERIABANK and Escalante Golf also will partner for the event.

Sorenstam, who is a member of the LPGA and World Golf Halls of Fame, won 89 tournaments during her career, including 10 major championships. After leaving professional golf in 2008, she has turned her attention to her businesses and her family.

The top 40 "Share My Passion" letters will be featured on LPGA.com, GirlsGolf.org and LPGA*USGA Girls Golf social media.

Winners will spend the day receiving instruction from Sorenstam and top LPGA teaching professionals from the Naples area, while also enjoying a special behind-the-scenes tournament experience.

U.S. Senior Women's Amateur: Naples' Mary Jane Hiestand lost in the Round of 16 at the U.S. Senior Women's Amateur in Vero Beach on Tuesday after winning her second-round match in dramatic fashion.

Hiestand lost to Kathy Kurata of Pasadena, California, 1-up. Hiestand was 1-up with four holes to play, but lost No. 16 and then No. 18 to drop the match.

Earlier, Patricia Cornett of Mill Valley, California, and the Hideout Golf Club member went back and forth on the front nine, with Hiestand squaring the match with a birdie on No. 9. But Cornett won No. 10 with a par, and the two halved the next six holes -- all with pars -- and then Hiestand won the 18th hole to force extra holes. She then birdied the first extra hole to take the match.

Naples' Natalie McNicholas, Bonita Springs' Kim Keyer-Scott, Fort Myers' Lisa Schlesinger, and Cape Coral's Gigi Higgins all made it to match play, but lost in the first round Monday.

Golfers celebrate a great putt during the 2009 Fancy Pants golf tournament. This year's tournament, which is Saturday at The Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club, has been renamed the Jerry Conti Memorial Fancy Pants Golf Tournament in honor of Conti, who helped found the Cancer Alliance of Naples and the tournament. Conti died in 2016.

Fancy Pants honors Jerry Conti:  The Fancy Pants charity golf tournament, which is this Saturday at The Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club, has taken on a new name, honoring Cancer Alliance of Naples co-founder Jerry Conti, of those who helped start the tournament, now in its 15th year in its current makeup.

Pete Villani originally had the Fancy Pants tournament before it ended after 10 years or so. But Conti and tournament director Sonny Grech helped resurrect it and made it a fundraiser for the Cancer Alliance of Naples while honoring Villani. The tournament has helped many other charities over the years, including Eden Autism Service, the Rotary Club Gift of Live (which brought in children from other countries who needed open heart surgery), and the Michael Grech Memorial Fund at the Community Foundation,

Over $700,000 has been raised and donated to charities.

With Conti's death in 2016, the tournament has been brought back to Cancer Alliance of Naples, and renamed the Jerry Conti Memorial Fancy Pants Golf Tournament.
