VERMONTVILLE TWP. — Police have released the identity of a Charlotte man killed after losing control of his vehicle.

Jonathan David Eggleston, 24, was driving east on West Vermontville Highway in Vermontville Township at about 7:20 p.m. Thursday when he lost control and crashed, according to a news release from the Eaton County Sheriff's Department.

Police believe speed and use of alcohol and drugs may have been factors in the crash, according to the news release.

Eggleston's vehicle crossed over into the westbound lane of Vermontville Highway and drove into a field before rolling several times and striking a residence. He was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle.

No one else was in his vehicle at the time of the crash, and no one else was injured.
