Michigan State Spartans wide receiver C.J. Hayes (4) jumps into the arms of quarterback Brian Lewerke (14) with tight end Chase Gianacakos (94) in celebration during the second half of the game against Indiana at Memorial Stadium. The Michigan State Spartans defeated the Indiana Hoosiers 35 to 21.

It wasn't quite "Little Giants" but Mark Dantonio and the Michigan State Spartans weren't afraid to call a trick play on special teams.

And once again, it paid off.

On a fourth-and-goal play from the 6-yard line with 4:47 left in the third quarter and MSU leading Indiana, 21-7, on Saturday night, kicker Matt Coghlin lined up for a field-goal attempt.

But the Spartans had other plans.

Holder Brian Lewerke took the snap from center, and then hopped up to run the option. Lewerke sold the inside run very well, and Coghlin maintained the proper separation to take the option pitch and waltz into the end zone.

The play gave the Spartans a 28-7 lead.
