Letterkenny Army Depot cancels anti-terrorism exercise

UPDATE: Letterkenny Army Depot announced on Friday, Sept. 14, 2018, that its annual anti-terrorism exercise is cancelled until further notice. 

CHAMBERSBURG -- Letterkenny Army Depot will conduct its annual anti-terrorism exercise on Thursday, Sept. 20, with the help of emergency personnel in the civilian community.

The depot workforce, emergency responders and local and community emergency management services will test their response plans.

The exercise is a simulation of a potentially real situation, according to a depot spokeswoman.

The mandatory depot training exercise is not open to the media, according to Letterkenny commander Col. Stephen Ledbetter. Only authorized emergency management services, to include the Pennsylvania State Police, will be authorized access to the site of the simulation.

Letterkenny Army Depot hold its annual anti-terrorism training on Sept. 20.

Letterkenny Army Depot maintains equipment for the military and its international partners. Teams repair and overhaul route clearance vehicles, expeditionary systems and air defense systems, such as Patriot.

The depot and its tenants comprise the second largest employer in Franklin County.
