LANSING — Lansing's annual Taste of Downtown, originally scheduled for Saturday, July 21, has been postponed.

Due to predicted thunderstorms and heavy rain moving into the Lansing area Friday afternoon and continuing throughout the weekend, the decision has been made to reschedule the event for the safety of attendees, participants, set up team and staff, according to a news release.

The ninth annual event now will take place on Saturday, Sept. 8 from 3:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the 100 south block of Washington Square in downtown Lansing.

Volunteer Brett Emery pours a glass of red wine for Sharone Martin, of Jackson, on Saturday, July 30, 2016, at the Taste of Downtown in Lansing.

The event brings food from restaurants, cafes and pubs in downtown Lansing, live music and more than 100 wines from around the world together in one gathering spot.

Tickets purchased in advance will be valid for Sept. 8.

Event details are available at www.tasteofdowntown.org/
