Ford recalls 550,000 vehicles due to safety concern

Ford is recalling 550,000 vehicles due to a safety concern.

The recall affects 2013-2016 models of Ford Fusions and 2013 and 2014 Ford Escapes.

On affected vehicles, the shifter cable bushings may detach from the transmission, which could allow the transmission to be in a gear different than the position selected by the driver. 

This could mean if a driver puts the car in park and removes the key, vehicle could roll away. 

Until the shifter cable is fixed, Ford advised owners to use their parking brake. Ford said they are not aware of any accidents or injuries related to the recall.
