This building in Delta Township at Saginaw Highway and Creyts Road was destroyed July 1 in a fire. It housed two medical offices.

DELTA TOWNSHIP -- A fire that destroyed two businesses at Creyts Road and Saginaw Highway was caused by an "unknown electrical function," a fire official said.

Nobody was inside the building when the fire started about 3 a.m. July 1 in its northeast corner, said Mike Roberts, Delta Township's fire inspector.

“It was determined to be an unknown electrical malfunction in or around the lighting unit," Roberts said. "The cause is classified as accidental."

The building is located at 722 N. Creyts and was shared by Delta Chiropractic Center and America's Best Hearing.

Both businesses have relocated to temporary locations in the township.

Dr. Charles Roost, the building's owner, told the State Journal last week he intends to have the structure rebuilt in about a year so his chiropractic business can move back in.

Delta Chiropractic recently moved the Gilead Healing Center, 306 S. Creyts. For more information, call (517) 321-3030.

The America's Best Hearing portion of the building is expected to open in a few weeks at a temporary location at 603 N. Waverly Road.

Sue Gamel, a patient care coordinator, said last week employees of the business that specialize in hearing aides would like to move back to the location at Creyts and Saginaw once Roost's rebuilding effort is complete.

For now, Lansing area patients with immediate needs like a new battery for a hearing aide can get help if they call (517) 323-7986.
