I wrote about Biarritz last week, one of three new fragrance waters from Chanel, inspired by places important to Gabrielle Chanel. They’re in the vein of colognes but definitely have the thread of Chanel running through them – you would, if you’re familiar with Chanel fragrances, immediately know what fragrance family they live in.
Deauville is so orangey – it’s the predominant note in a crisp and fresh form boosted by petit grain and made green with basil leaves. It’s as bright as fragrance comes and a true summer sparkler. There’s a tiny bit of sweetness provided by floral notes of rose and jasmine but they’re not interfering with the citrus element – neither is patchouli which exists at the base. It’s completely wearable and an absolute joy. Venise has more of an oriental element – it’s woody and vanilla-ish and the most masculine of the three Les Eaux. There is citrus there but only just and the geranium is evident without dominating – the whole effect is creamy, smooth and light; cocooning without smothering.
Personally, I found that both Deauville and Venise have more last than Biarritz. They’re launching on Friday but to stores and Chanel.com only so do keep an eye out.

they are – I reckon around the £100 mark.
I like Venise the most out of the three and I would purchase it if it were either less expensive or longer lasting with better sillage. Deauville (the orangey one) reminds me of another fragrance so I don’t find it unique.
