Officers responding to a report of a fireworks complaint in the 300 block of East Philadelphia Street on Sunday night ended up arresting a York woman who had a taser and damaged a car, police said.

Mikirah Linijah Ford, 24, of the first block of East College Avenue, was allegedly arguing with another woman over a public parking space, police said.

York City Police were called to the area for a fireworks complaint around 10 p.m., and encountered "a large group of people involved in a verbal altercation," police said. Police saw Ford kicking a vehicle multiple times and having a verbal altercation with another woman.

When an officer approached Ford, he heard "the distinct sounds of a taser being discharged," the officer wrote in the arrest affidavit. But when the officer made contact with Ford, they didn't find her in possession of a taser.

Police talked with Latavia Barr at the scene and learned that Ford and Barr started arguing over a parking space. When Ford made threats against Barr and started kicking her vehicle, causing damage to the front and rear driver's side doors, Ford grabbed a taser, police said. That's when Barr grabbed a bar to defend herself.

Neither Ford nor Barr told police the incident became physical.

When police took Ford into custody, they asked her about the taser, and she admitted to having it, police said. Police estimated the damage to Barr's vehicle to be about $500.

Ford was charged with possessing an incapacitation device, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct. She was sent to York County Prison after her arraignment when she was unable to post $5,000 bail. She has a preliminary hearing scheduled for July 23 in front of District Judge Linda Williams.
