Amy L. Rivera, left, and Erica Shea McCue were both charged with endangering the welfare of children and public drunkenness this week in Lancaster County after police said they overdosed in their cars with young children inside.

Two eerily similar arrests over two days in Lancaster County, both with very young children in danger, occurred this week, Manheim Township police said.

On Sunday, 33-year-old Erica Shea McCue of Conestoga was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of children and public drunkenness after police say she overdosed on heroin in her vehicle along Greenway Trail.

Her 1-year-old child was in the vehicle, which police say was not running while the windows were closed and temperatures outside reached 90 degrees.

On Monday, 33-year-old Amy L. Rivera of Manheim was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of children, false identification to law enforcement and public drunkenness after police say she overdosed on a muscle relaxer on the 500 block of South West End Ave.

Her 7-month old child was in the car, which was not running, had its windows closed and was also approximately 90 degrees, police said. The child, they said, was found face down in distress, crying and sweating on the floorboard of the front passenger seat.

Rivera was administered Narcan, and police said she provided a false name and age when she was revived. The child was taken to an area hospital for evaluation.
