The Michigan State football recruiting class of 2019 is growing bigger — and quickly.

Mark Dantonio and the Spartans landed their eighth commit of the 2019 class Thursday, with 3-star linebacker Luke Fulton of Cardinal Mooney (Youngstown, Ohio) making his announcement on Twitter.

"It has always been a dream of mine to play college football," Fulton tweeted. "I've been blessed to have received offers from schools across the country and I appreciate every one of them for investing time in me. ... I have finally reached my decision...... I am COMMITTED TO MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY!! #GoGreen"

Fulton is ranked the No. 23 inside linebacker nationally, and 26th overall in Ohio, by the 247sports.com composite rankings. He tallied 125 tackles and eight forced fumbles his junior year, according to scoutingohio.com.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Fulton had scholarship offers from most of the Big Ten schools: Northwestern, Wisconsin, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, Purdue and Rutgers. He also held offers from Kentucky, Syracuse, Boston College, California, Georgia Tech, Pittsburgh and Virginia, along with a number of Group of 5 programs.

Fulton joins 4-star quarterback Dwan Mathis (Oak Park), 4-star cornerback Julian Barnett (Belleville), 3-star offensive lineman Spencer Brown (Walled Lake Western), 3-star athlete Jordan Huff (Morgan County, Georgia), 3-star wide receiver Jase Bowen (Toledo Catholic Central), 3-star defensive end Adam Berghorst (Zeeland East) and 3-star linebacker Marcel Lewis as the Spartans’ commitments for 2019.
