Lackawanna Community College safety Jaquan Brisker verbally committed to James Franklin and his staff Thursday night, according to a report by 247Sports.

Brisker (6-foot-2, 197 pounds) is originally from Gateway High in Monroeville, where Penn State defensive backs coach Terry Smith was a long-time head coach.

He is rated as the nation’s top JUCO safety and No. 9 overall JUCO prospect by 247Sports. He also reported scholarship offers from Alabama, Ole Miss, Maryland, Mississippi State, Pittsburgh, Utah and West Virginia.

Brisker joins quarterback Ta’Quan Roberson, offensive lineman Caedan Wallace and cornerback Keaton Ellis in the Nittany Lions’ Class of 2019.

Penn State is awaiting word on other potential key commits over the next few days, as four-star running back Devyn Ford and four-star defensive lineman Antonio Alfano announce on Friday. Five-star linebacker Brandon Smith and four-star cornerback Tyler Rudolph will go public with their college choices on Monday.

Brisker could stay at safety or grow into a linebacker in college, similar to Penn State senior Koa Farmer and junior Jarvis Miller. Brisker will have three years to play two in State College.
