Daughter of York civil rights icon speaks about Levittown
Lynda Myers, daughter of Daisy and William Myers, shared the story of her family and their move to Levittown, Pa. in the 1950s. The black family faced hatred in the all-white community. The Myers family later settled in York County. The York County History Center. hosted the event, "In the North Too: The Myers Family of York's Integration Story," at the DreamWrights Center for the Community Arts. After the event, Myers said, "We need to be more tolerant and understanding of all people, no matter age, race, religion, whatever the beliefs may be, because we all need to live in this world together, and the more tolerate we are, the better place we would be."
