One day after police got an arrest warrant for a York man charged with rape of a child and other offenses, the U.S. Marshals arrested him in the city.

They found Jacob Hess, 42, in the 800 block of West Poplar Street and arrested him without incident, U.S. Marshals said in a news release.

Hess was charged Thursday with first-degree felony rape of a child, second-degree felony sexual assault and a misdemeanor count of indecent assault of a person less than 13 years old, according to court records.

Hess allegedly committed the sexual assaults on multiple occasions in York County.

After police got a warrant for Hess on Thursday, the U.S. Marshals Service Task Force "immediately began looking for Hess," according to the release. U.S. Marshal Martin J. Pane said that he hopes "that the victim will find comfort knowing the alleged attacker is now in custody."

Hess was arraigned Friday morning by District Judge Ronald J. Haskell Jr. He was sent to York County Prison after he was unable to post $50,000 bail. Hess has a preliminary hearing before Haskell on May 7.
