The RCMP initially reported that 28 people were on the bus and later clarified that it was 29.

The Humboldt Broncos were on their way to play the Nipawin Hawks in a Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League playoff game when the accident happened at around 5 p.m.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to assist the families and players affected.
