EAST LANSING - Add Gregory Conte, an associate of white nationalist Richard Spencer, to the list of those charged in connection with the violence surrounding Spencer's March 5 appearance at Michigan State University.

Gregory Conte was led away in handcuffs after Richard Spencer supporters clashed with protesters during Spencer's March 5 appearance at MSU.

Conte, 29, of Gaithersburg, Maryland, was arraigned this week in 54B District Court on a count of resisting and obstructing police, a felony punishable by up to two years in prison upon conviction.

Conte, director of operations for the Spencer-led National Policy Institute, was highly visible as Spencer supporters clashed with protesters outside the MSU pavilion.

More than two dozen people were arrested, 13 of them on felony charges. As of Wednesday, authorities had released the names of 21 people charged, with several cases apparently still under review.

Conte posted a $5,000 cash bond after his arraignment Monday. A hearing to determine whether he should stand trial on the charge is set for April 5. An attorney listed for him in court records did not immediately return a phone message left for him by the State Journal on Wednesday.
