LANSING TWP. - A Lansing Police Department officer was taken to the hospital after another motorist ran a red light and struck his cruiser.

The crash occurred at the corner of Kalamazoo and Howard streets around 8 p.m. Tuesday, Lansing Township Police Chief Adam Kline said.

As the officer was traveling westbound on Kalamazoo, the other motorist southbound on Howard disregarded a red light and entered the intersection. The front ends of the two vehicles collided.

The officer reported over the radio that he was okay following the crash, Kline said, but was taken to the hospital as a precaution. The other motorist was taken to the hospital as well, and both have been released, said Lansing Police Public Information Director Robert Merritt.

The driver who ran the red light was deemed at-fault in the crash.
