Mike Wetzel says that one of the most difficult parts of the closing was telling employees that they would be "loosing their livelihoods" at Wetzel's Market Sunday during the last day of operation. Wetzel's was assisting employees with finding other jobs in their convenience stores and other supermarkets.

The Wetzel's Market building in the 1970's.  According to Mike Wetzel, The store started out at Smith's Market with the building that sticks out toward the right at right in 1958. That building had a slaughterhouse behind it that Wetzel's used though the 1980's. The larger building was added in 1968. Doors were moved to the side of the building in their current location in 1989. An addition was built on to the back of the store in 2001.

Waltersdorff, who has worked at the store since the Melting Pot restaurant in Glen Rock closed last fall, said that she "really doesn't want to work for (a) corporate (store)" saying that Wetzel's "always makes sure people have what they need" and the store is "more of a community brought together". Waltersdorff plans on finishing high school before looking for her next job.
