Previously reported, March 16:

A Conewago Township woman was charged after she allegedly stole $200,000 from her place of employment.

Joyce E. Miller, 60, of the 100 block of Dakota Drive, allegedly overpaid herself and her son consistently in their payroll payments from Aero Energy, according to an affidavit filed with District Judge Tony Little.

An audit to the company's 401K and payroll accounts showed that Miller had been overpaying both her and her son from Jan. 1, 2009 through Aug. 31, 2017, the affidavit states.

A secondary internal forensic audit was performed and concluded that Miller, who was the Human Resource and exclusive Payroll Officer for Aero Energy, was disbursing payments that exceeded the approved compensation, police said in the affidavit.

In those ten years, Miller had taken $130,000 for herself and $70,000 for her son. The funds were paid to each of them by check and direct deposit, the affidavit states.

It was also discovered that Miller and her son were the only two employees that had discrepancies and were overpaid in those ten years.

Because of the statute of limitations, charges were only made in relation to funds taken from April 1, 2013 through July 31, 2017, which accounts for $104,275.03 of the total funds stolen, the affidavit states.

Miller was charged with theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and forgery, according to online court documents.

She had unsecured bail set for $50,000 and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for March 29, documents state.

Miller's attorney information is not yet listed.
