A York woman in possession of cocaine was a passenger in a vehicle fleeing from police and also a suspect in felony drug investigations, York City Police said.

Anika Monae Barnes of the 100 block of North Queen Street was charged with one felony count of manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver and one summary count of disorderly conduct in the police chase incident.

She is also charged with three felony counts of manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver in other cases, according to online court documents.

As of March 16, Barnes was in York County Prison after she was unable to post $25,000 bail.

Charging documents said Barnes and Jahtice Shamir Taylor, also of the 100 block of North Queen Street, exchanged cocaine for money in June 2017. Taylor was charged with one felony count of prohibited acts, online court dockets said.

Then, on March 6, 2018, charging documents state, an undercover police officer saw Barnes deliver cocaine in exchange for money. An undercover officer also saw her sell crack cocaine the next day, police said.

On March 8, Barnes was the passenger in a vehicle fleeing from police, according to charging documents. During the pursuit, the car crashed into a parked car in the 300 block of Walnut Street in York and Barnes fled on foot throughout the city.

Barnes was arrested a "short distance away," according to charging documents. She was in possession of cocaine.
