Barbara Jean Chamberlain, 87, of Nebo, IL passed away early Sunday morning (3-11-18) at the Eastside Health and Rehabilitation Center in Pittsfield surrounded by her family.
Barbara was born October 3, 1930 near Pittsfield, a daughter of William and Opal Abigail Waggoner Kelly. She married Durrell B. “D.B.” Chamberlain on October 30, 1948 in Pittsfield. D. B. died April 25, 2014.
Barbara was a graduate of Nebo High school and she assisted her husband with the operation of their trucking business for many years.
Barbara enjoyed crocheting, flower gardening and bird watching. In earlier years she enjoyed bike riding and swimming. She was a member of the Nebo Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Cathy Chamberlain of Atlas, a son, Stan (Becky) Chamberlain of Nebo, a son-in-law, Danny K. Guthrie of Nebo, eight grandchildren, Jerri (Trent) Goodin, Jonathan (Ashley) Guthrie, Jeremy (Mallory) Davidsmeyer, Ashley (Ben) Gress, Tyler Voiles, Abigail Chamberlain, Kenny Roach and Tim Roach, ten great-grandchildren, Micole Hopke, April Hodges, Jesse Davidsmeyer, Caden Davidsmeyer, Odyn Davidsmeyer, Ava Gress, Garrett Guthrie, Madison Guthrie, Harper Roach and Audrey Roach, three great-great grandchildren, Ellie, Cobee and Charlie Hirst, a brother Charles(Karen) Kelly of Nebo, numerous nieces and nephews and her special canine companion, “Baby”.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter, Phyllis Ann Guthrie and by two brothers, Lawrence Kelly and William Kelly.
Funeral services will be held Thursday (3-15-18) at 1:00 p.m. at the Lummis Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill conducted by Bro. Don Hannel and Bro. David Hamilton. Burial will follow at the Nebo Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Thursday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Spring Creek Fire Department in Nebo or to Blessing Hospice of Pike County.
