The Michigan and Michigan State women’s basketball teams will have their work cut out for them in this week’s Big Ten tournament in Indianapolis.

The Wolverines will be the No. 6 seed and the Spartans will be the No. 10 seed in the bracket, which was announced Sunday.

Michigan State will open up play at 6:30 p.m. Thursday against seventh-seeded Indiana in a second-round game, with the winner advancing to face three-time defending tournament champion and No. 2 seed Maryland.

Michigan will take on the winner of No. 11 seed Penn State and No. 14 seed Illinois 25 minutes after the conclusion of the Michigan State-Indiana game, with third-seeded Nebraska awaiting in the quarterfinals on Friday.

If Michigan and Michigan State are able to win their first two games, they’d meet in Saturday’s semifinals.

On the other side of the bracket, Big Ten regular-season champion and No. 1 seed Ohio State and No. 4 seed Minnesota round out the top four seeds in the tournament, which will take place at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

Since the tournament began in 1995, Michigan State has one title (2005) and two runner-up finishes (2013, 2016), while Michigan has yet to reach the championship game.

The tournament will begin Wednesday with two opening-round games and end with Sunday’s championship game. All games will be broadcast on BTN2Go and the title game will be televised on ESPN2.
