An infrared camera captured the Hanover eagle laying its second egg just after 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 23, 2018.

It takes two, baby.

The female bald eagle laid a second egg in the nest near Codorus State Park around 6 p.m. Friday.

Viewers of the nest livestream, produced by the Pennsylvania Game Commission and HDOnTap, got a chance to watch the arrival on Friday, although visual confirmation did not come until half an hour later via HDOnTap's infrared camera.

The first egg came three days ago when viewers noticed an egg appear in the nest on Feb. 20 around 3:30 p.m.

Last year, the eagle laid the first egg of the season on Feb. 10. A second egg came a few days later. The eagle pair consistently laid two eggs in the first three years of the eagle cam.

The game commission predicted a second egg could arrive Friday in social media posts.

Now, fans of the eagle cam will play the waiting game as they hope for a couple of healthy hatchlings this year.
