No Pitt for Penn State football in 2020. When will they meet again?
Penn State's latest series renewal with the Pitt Panthers will end next year, after all.
The university announced its last two non-conference opponents for the 2020 season, shutting down the chance to keep their in-state rivalry going.
Nevada will visit Beaver Stadium on Sept. 5, 2020 for the season opener.The Nittany Lions will play at Virginia Tech on Sept. 12 and will conclude their non-conference schedule with a home game against San Jose State the following week.
This will mark Penn State's first-ever meeting against all of those opponents.

Meanwhile, the Lions' four-year mini-series with Pitt will end after the teams play in Beaver Stadium in 2019. There had been talk of the two universities attempting to extend the series.
Penn State leads the all-time series with Pitt, 51-43-4. The teams have traded victories in their home stadiums the past two years.
There still is one non-conference slot open in 2021 and two in 2022. The 2021 schedule already is shaping up to be one of the Lions' most challenging in recent memory with the season-opener at Wisconsin and a non-conference home game two weeks later against Auburn.
The Lions also will play on the road against Iowa, Michigan State and Ohio State that season.
Meanwhile, the Lions will play two teams from the Mountain West Conference in 2020. They are 5-0 lifetime against teams from that league, including three victories against Air Force. Their last MWC victory was against San Diego State, 37-21, in 2015.
Upcoming Penn State schedules also feature a road game at Auburn in 2022, a home-and-away series with West Virginia in 2023-24 and a home game with Virginia Tech in 2025.
University officials also announced that it will play a non-conference home game against Bowling Green in 2024.
