RODIN Olio Lusso Luxury Lipsticks

When I first discovered Rodin lipsticks, I thought they were SO expensive! Now, £28 is normal. There were only ever five in the range, created by 68 year old Linda Rodin (former model and stylist and a fashionista favourite for years), who was probably better known for her home-brewed facial oil. The Rodin brand was acquired by Lauder in 2014 and it’s been surprisingly quiet, given that. I read in Vogue that Linda likes collecting strange looking sweets, plus she owns a miniature poodles (Winks) – she’s like the friend I haven’t found yet (pats my lovely poodle, Honey, and eyes up the Japanese sweets bought for their looks not vile taste).

These are creamy matte with only a demi-matte finish, but they’re bright! Perfect, in fact, for a look that’s all about the lips and pared back everywhere else. The formula has jasmine and neroli oil (so avoid if essential oils trigger you), rose flower and lavender flower waxes, apricot, argan and meadowflower seed oils, as well as vitamin C and E so they’ve got more, formula-wise, than many. I find them incredibly comfortable in the wear with very decent last.

From bottom to top: Loving Lucy, Arancia Adore, Berry Baci, Arancia Adore (again.. wondered why they looked so similar! two the same by mistake..) and Pinky Winky. The only one thing I will say about them is that casing is not the most comfortable thing – the edges feel quite harsh. It’s just a tiny thing but I think comfort is part of luxury and it needs looking at. These are for a spring launch but I don’t have a date yet – Rodin is sold at Liberty if you ever pop in.
