No, no, it’s fine. I didn’t feel at all silly with a big gold dome on my head in the bath. It’s not a dignified look but I felt quite satisfyingly alien, and the results are worth feeling all Sci-Fi Channel B movie – it’s a very, very hydrating mask.
I don’t think I realised how dry my hair had got – I mean, it’s not brittle but I do use straighteners so those ends get parched quite quickly, plus I’ve been having a lot of static which is often an indicator of dryness. I can say that this mask, which launches in February, is one of the most effective I’ve used. I wasn’t expecting the gold to be honest – there’s nothing on the exterior packaging that suggests that it’s going to be a golden dome but it’s really effective as it has a pull tab that tightens it around your head so that you can stand in the shower under a hot stream which heats up the impregnated ingredients. I did mine in the bath but even so, the head generates its own heat and I was happy with the result.
As well as the expected silicones (dimethicone), the mask mixture contains camellia oil, argan oil and cactus flower extracts so the combination of more ‘natural’ ingredients and the synthetics seem to create the perfect storm of moisture that my hair absolutely loved. I’d recommend this only for dry/very dry and processed hair – it’s highly moisturising and may be too much (I didn’t rinse it out of my fringe as well as I thought I had and had to re-wash it). It’s a very impressive product but warn your family first ;-).
