MASON JAR ATTACK: A woman, 59, and her daughter, 29, were arrested after they argued and fought in the 200 block of Howland Street Wednesday. Battle Creek police were called at 5:47 p.m. by the younger woman who said her mother was arguing with her about the care of the daughter's children and threatening to call Child Protective Services. The daughter said she pushed her mother's hand away from her face and that her mother then hit her three times in the head with a glass Mason jar, which did not break. The mother said her daughter slapped her hand, hit her in the head and kicked her in the stomach.

BB GUN ASSAULT: A Battle Creek man, 27, was arrested on several charges after Battle Creek police investigated a report of a man shooting BBs at children, a house and car. Officers were called to the 100 block of South Avenue at 4:32 p.m. Wednesday and later with assistance from Emmett Township police found the man hiding in the basement at a home on Bradford Street in Emmett Township. Officers found a BB gun in the man's car and an unmarked container with white pills and a handgun. He denied shooting his BB gun at anything and said the handgun belonged to another man who had been in the car earlier. However police said two children appeared to have been hit by BBs. The man was arrested on charges of felonious assault, carrying a concealed weapon, and for several warrants from Friend of the Court.

KNIFE THREAT: A warrant is being sought for a woman, 22, after her boyfriend 18, said she threatened him with a knife in the 3200 block of Capital Avenue Southwest at 5:18 p.m. Wednesday. The man said he began to argue with her after finding some text messages on her phone to his former girlfriend. He said the woman grabbed a steak knife and demanded her phone or she would stab him. He gave her the phone and she left the apartment. The woman's mother was in another room and heard an argument but no threats about stabbing.
