Penn State students greet outgoing football players after an NCAA Division I football game Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, at Beaver Stadium. Penn State defeated Nebraska 56-44 in its final home game of the 2017 season.

Isheem Young, a football star and Penn State commit out of Imhotep Charter in Philadelphia, was arrested and charged with robbery and other related offenses this weekend after allegedly robbing a Wawa in South Philadelphia with two accomplices in July, according to a report in the Philadelphia Inquirer.

As a result, some sites, including 247sports.com, are reporting that Young is no longer a member of Penn State's 2018 recruiting class.

Young, recruited as a safety, offered a creative verbal commitment via YouTube over the summer not even two weeks before the incident. He was 17 at the time of the alleged robbery and is 18 now.

He played in last week's PIAA quarterfinal victory for Imhotep but did not play in Friday night's semifinal victory over Bethlehem Catholic. Imhotep meets Cathedral Prep in Thursday night's PIAA Class 4A championship at Hersheypark Stadium.

Young was arrested early Friday morning. A police report alleged he was armed with a black revolver on July 30 and escaped with $13,600 in cash from the safe.

The philly.com story includes further details on the arrest and on Young.
