On Monday, the Central York school board approved the resignation of Joel C. Gugino, principal of Sinking Springs Elementary School.

The resignation will take effect Jan. 30, 2018, once a leave of absence under the Family and Medical Leave Act is completed, according to the meeting agenda.

The resignation was approved without objection, and it was approved along with several other agenda items.

After the meeting, Michael Snell, the district superintendent, declined to comment on Gugino’s resignation.

Snell sent an email to faculty, staff and parents Monday evening, announcing Gugino’s resignation as part of personnel changes for the district’s leadership team.
