Trick-or-Treat on the Square in downtown Lansing postponed

LANSING — Because umbrellas don't usually match Halloween costumes, Downtown Lansing has postponed an upcoming event.

Trick-or-Treat on the Square, on South Washington Square, has been postponed to 5-7:30 p.m. Oct. 26 because of inclement weather, according to a social media post from DowntownLansing.org.

The event was originally scheduled for Monday. There is a potential for heavy rain and flooding Monday and Monday night in Lansing, according to the National Weather Service.

The rain may start late Sunday and continue until Tuesday. The heaviest rainfall is expected Monday afternoon.

Most areas are forecast to receive between 1-3 inches of rainfall with as much as 5 inches in parts of mid-Michigan, according to the weather service.

Flooding is possible in urban or low-lying areas, and rivers and streams may flood.
