MSU men's basketball coach Tom Izzo called Rich Eisen on Wednesday to remind him who won the MSU-Michigan game this weekend.

As the namesake of "The Rich Eisen Show," the longtime sports commentator hasn't been afraid to show his fandom when it comes to the Yankees, Jets or his alma mater, the University of Michigan.

So while Eisen was sweating out Game 5 of the American League Division Series between the Yankees and Indians on Wednesday night, he received a phone call from a number he didn't recognize but had a Michigan area code.

Eisen told the story on Thursday's show, and as you can watch below, it literally came out of nowhere.

It was Michigan State men's basketball coach Tom Izzo on the other end, calling to taunt Eisen after the Spartans football team once again defeated Eisen's Wolverines, 14-10, on Saturday night.

While telling the story — and doing a pretty good Izzo impression — Eisen says Izzo got the number from his long-time BFF, Steve Marriuci.

"'I gotta tell you, this guy knows how to coach,'" says Eisen recalling Izzo's comments, in reference to Mark Dantonio. "'8-2 against Michigan. How do they go 8-2 against Michigan?' Boom, boom, boom. Hammered at me."

So basically, Izzo did what every Michigan State fan did to their U-M friends Saturday night.

"I'm honored to get my cajones busted by Tom Izzo. He was gleeful. Gleeful," Eisen said.
