Smok'n Hogs BBQ will feature brisket, as well as other items like pulled pork sandwiches, when it opens in East Manchester Township next month.

In the near future, the smell of barbecue will flood North George Street in East Manchester Township.

Smok’n Hogs BBQ, a catering company that has participated in several barbecue competitions across the area, will open a brick-and-mortar location at 4336 N. George St., East Manchester Township next month, owner Curtis Walters said.

When the restaurant opens, Smok’n Hogs will feature a variety of barbecue, from pulled pork sandwiches to brisket that will be available for carry out. Walters hopes to expand the business in the near future with some in-house seating.

He liked the location because of its spot on a main road, where he hopes to reach customers as they’re coming home from work.

Walters opened the business five years ago, growing from competing in barbecue competitions to catering out of a rented commercial kitchen.

“We just let our food speak for itself,” Walters said. “We’re steadily growing, so I’m happy about that.”

While he loves to cook, it’s the customers that he loves the most.

“I love dealing with people,” Walters said. “It makes my day. People always come back and tell us they like our food.”
