Aaron Henry committed to Michigan State on Monday.

EAST LANSING – Gary Harris and a number of prominent Michigan State alums were back in town for a basketball reunion weekend.

That was enough of a sway for Aaron Henry to follow Harris’ path and become a Spartan.

Henry, a small forward from Indianapolis who plays on a Harris-sponsored AAU team, became MSU’s fifth commitment for its 2018 class. He announced his decision via Twitter after it was first reported by Scout.com.

Henry called his MSU decision "the chance of a lifetime" in a letter posted to Twitter.

“My whole life I’ve dreamed of playing college basketball. I’ve always envisioned myself playing for the biggest programs and the biggest names. I’ve worked my whole life to get where I am today,” Henry wrote. “Although my journey hasn’t ended this is a huge accomplishment for my family and I. … This process has been something truly amazing. It’s tough to say no but it’s a wonderful feeling to be accepted into a program and say yes! This is a life time decision and I feel my family and I made the right decision.”

The 6-foot-5, 200-pound Henry is listed as a 4-star recruit by Rivals.com and a 3-star according to Rivals.com and 247Sports.com. He joins 5-10 point guard Foster Loyer and his 6-8 teammate forward Thomas Kithier from Clarkston, 6-9 forward Marcus Bingham from Grand Rapids Catholic Central and 6-7 forward Gabe Brown from Belleville in the Spartans’ 2018 class.

Henry averaged 14.2 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists as a junior for Ben Davis last season, making 42% of his 3-point attempts. Scout.com said his addition currently gives Tom Izzo the third-best recruiting class for 2018.

MSU will lose Ben Carter, Gavin Schilling and Tum Tum Nairn to graduation after this season. However, the Spartans could also lose Miles Bridges and potentially Jaren Jackson Jr. and Nick Ward to the NBA Draft, should they declare for early entry.

ND TIP TIME: MSU will host Notre Dame in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge at 7 p.m. on Nov. 30 at Breslin Center. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.
