Arch Motorcycle in Hawthorne, California, is better known as actor Keanu Reeves’ motorcycle company. Reeves’ involvement only guarantees attention, but the KRGT-1 apparently delivers on the promise. The engine is a fuel-injected S&S 124ci (2,032cc) Harley replacement unit producing 120 hp and a big fat 115.31ft-lb (156Nm) of torque at 3,200 rpm.

The engine of the Mercedes-AMG Project One hypercar is a turbocharged 1.6-litre V6 with an electrically-assisted turbocharger on cylinder bank and spins to 11,000 rpm, necessitating a complete engine rebuild every 50,000 kilometers. Given the string of supercars with zero miles on them that you see at events like this, it could be argued that the majority of these cars will never see 50,000 km anyway. The limited edition (275 units) Mercedes-AMG Project One will be revealed at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show 2017 on September 12, 2017, with a price tag in the $3 million vicinity.

If you haven’t heard of Mercedes-AMG Project One, just wait a few weeks and it will be all over the news. This year (2017) is AMG’s 50th anniversary, and the Mercedes sibsidiary is about to become even more primetime with its name on a car that will step beyond the current crop of LaFerrari and McLaren P1 supercars by being based directly upon a Formula One car.

The 1971 Rolls-Royce Phantom VI All-Weather Cabriolet by Frua is a remarkable car due to the flexibility of its design. It's also remarkable in 46 years, the car has travelled just 133 miles under its own power. A third reason it is remarkable is that the interior of the rear compartment is so incredibly lavish. It is trimmed in burled walnut with sterling silver inlays, and features a silk-lined, lady’s vanity, a portable Davidoff cigar humidor, a television, a VCR, radio, and cocktail cabinet.Virtually new condition; 133 actual milesDocumented with factory build correspondence

There were only 374 Rolls-Royce Phantom VI produced during the 23 year model run (1968 - 1991), and only two were produced with bespoke coachwork, both by Frua of Turin. This 1971 Rolls-Royce Phantom VI All-Weather Cabriolet by Frua was the final Rolls-Royce Phantom VI completed and the 1993 Geneva Show car, but beyond that, it is very important in that it was a particularly futuristic design using a multi-position convertible top so the car can be configured as a sedanca de ville, landaulet, or fully open convertible.

Volkswagen's I.D. BUZZ concept car began the year as a fascinating concept and within eight months, preparation for its launch as a production vehicle had begun. Volkswagen announced its production decision at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. If there's an irony, it's that the older Bulli/Kombi/Microbus is now worth more at the accompanying Monterey auctions than the new all-electric I.D. BUZZ production car will be when it is new.

This 1937 Rolls-Royce Phantom III has had an interesting life. It was originally made in 1937 but got caught up in WW2 and changed hands three times before its first body was constructed by Freestone & Webb. The owner gave Freestone & Webb specific instructions to build a Sedanca De Ville body that "would win any concours event" and the coachbuilders certainly delivered. The car has won countless awards since WW2 and won a best of class award at Pebble Beach in 2008 after an extensive restoration.

This one-off Jaguar XK120 SE was originally built by Pininfarina and was shown to the world for the first time yesterday at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance after a 6,725 hour restoration by restoration specialists Classic Motor Cars (CMC). As it was a one-off, the full story of the restoration from a depleted state is fascinating. Some of the original parts were impossible to find so Classic Cars had to remake items such as the bumpers and chrome work by hand from photographs. Classic Cars also had to scan the front and rear end of the car and make mock ups of the lights, which were then scanned and 3D printed. Smaller missing parts were also 3D printed in-house. The rear window was missing so Classic Cars also had to scan the window aperture and have a new rear screen made from the scan data.

Many Porsche enthusiasts see the 993 as the last "real Porsche" - the pinnacle of the evolution of the original 1964 911 design. If you are one of them, you're going to love the Gunther Werks 400R, a 400 hp naturally-aspirated widebody carbon sports coupe. Gunther Werks calls it, "an icon remastered" and a "911 GT3 RS for the 993 chassis". The 400R is lightweight, stronger and more rigid than the original with carbon-fiber composite body panels, deck lid, wing, roof and more.

Monterey Car Week 2017 has come and gone and a host of anniversaries and memories have been consigned to history.

This year was the 60th anniversary of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, and we managed to attend most events from the Concours de Lemons, McCall's Motorworks Revival, The Quail Motorsports Gathering, Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, Legends of the Autobahn Concours, Werks Reunion, Pebble Beach Tour d'Elegance through to the culmination of the whole week at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.

It's hard to pick the highlights from an event as diverse and large as Monterey Car Week. It's a multi-faceted diamond, and regardless of your idea of what automotive nirvana might look like, you will find it in Monterey during this special week.

Here's a brief taste of what you'll find in our Monterey Car Week photo gallery:

BMW's Concept 8 Series was unveiled in May 2017, then just a few days later BMW confirmed that there would be a full M8 treatment for the cars. At The Quail, there was an opportunity to listen to Adrian van Hooydonk about the future of the series. Expect to see the production model next month at Frankfurt Motor Show.

The gravitational pull of that was created by first the vintage racing at Laguna Seca and the Pebble Beach Concours has become a black hole for motoring enthusiasts for one week each year. It attracts the most monied audience assembled anywhere on the planet and has become such a global platform for communicating to global influencers that even Volkswagen chose to announce the production of its Samba/Kombi/Microbus.
