USDA says no fipronil eggs from Netherlands here

From the American Egg Board:

The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) says the chance of any human health impact from shell eggs treated with the insecticide fipronil is extremely low. A criminal investigation is going on in the Netherlands where contaminated eggs have been found in 15 European countries and Hong Kong.

The FSIS says the US is not currently receiving egg products from the Netherlands — no such products have entered the U.S. since July 21st, and the FDA has confirmed that no shell eggs have been sent to the U.S. this fiscal year. The Netherlands is not approved to export any poultry to the U.S.

Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue says the USDA will continue to focus on the safety of eggs from the Netherlands for the protection of US consumers.

  • Hello July – Or anyone,

Can you please provide the USDA or FDA article (web link) where this is stated? ‘The FSIS says the US is not currently receiving egg products from the Netherlands — no such products have entered the U.S. since July 21st’.

I can’t seem to find anything related to this subject on neither website. Please advise.

    Thanks,

    • Mr. Rivas,

This story is based on an internal industry communication between the USDA and industry. It is from the On the Record Statement by the FSIS and is not posted publicly.
