Stay bang on trend with this beauty guide from the experts

Each season beauty trends shift, from the make-up we put on our faces to the shape of our brows. That said, it can be near impossible to keep up to date with the ever-changing landscape. Thankfully, leading beautician and salon supplier, Ellisons, have come up with a super useful guide to keep your brows ‘on fleek’ and your hair looking sleek.

90s style gloss

Bright colors have been a constant fixture on the runway for SS17, paying homage to the infamous 90s look. But it’s not just the clothing styles that are synonymous with the era, makeup artists are going brighter and glossier than ever. Think bright pink blushers and contrasting eyes to achieve instantly recognisable look that will stand out from the crowd. Don’t be afraid to clash an orange and pink, or blue and purple. Two-tone lips and eyes are all in this season.

Sparkles

Glitter has been big in certain circles for years, but this year, the catwalks were positively shimmering. Applying glitter on your eyes is a great way to spruce up your look for a night out or even more apt for the festival season. But it doesn’t have to stop at eyes: your nails can sparkle too with Ellisons nail art kits. You can even invest in some headwear that sparkles too for a fabulous night-out look.

Makeup-free

Natural-looking skin has been an emerging trend for a while now but more designers and makeup artists have opted for makeup-free models on the catwalk this year. The trick is to look makeup-free, whilst actually wearing makeup. You can do this by choosing nude and beige eyeshadows, applied in the creases for a natural finish. Or a subtle lip liner, and some fresh, dewy-looking foundation. Finish it off with brown mascara instead of black for ultimate subtlety.

Dewy skin

Moving away from the all-matte-everything of last year, an omnipresent look at each show this year was healthy looking, dewy skin. This can be achieved by using a tinted moisturizer instead of a foundation, or by adding highlighter above the cheekbones, just underneath your eyebrows, on top of your cupid’s bow and down the bridge of your nose.

Smudgey eyes

Much more relaxed than the precise cat-eye flick, smudged eyeliner is undeniably in this season. The ‘unfinished’ look was adorned by models in a number of notable shows in a dark, ashy color palette, creating a beautifully sultry look. It’s a stunning look, and much easier to achieve than attempting the perfect winged eyeliner.

These looks are only a few of many that have been trending this year. There are many more to add to the list, but these are our favorites. What are your favorite beauty trends?
